PhotoArtGraphy began as a mobile, boutique photography and creative workshop experience – but the vision has always been bigger than that.
At its core, PhotoArtGraphy is about helping teens build confidence, express themselves, and discover who they are through creativity. And while that work currently happens in homes, outdoor locations, and flexible spaces, there is a long-term dream behind it all.
A place of its own.
A home for creativity, growth, and expression.
A Future Creative Space
My long-term vision for PhotoArtGraphy is to one day have a dedicated facility – likely beginning as a rented space – that serves as a true creative home for the work we do.
A space where teens can come to learn, create, and grow in a consistent environment designed specifically for them.
In that future space, PhotoArtGraphy would expand beyond one-on-one instruction and small mobile sessions into a more structured program, potentially offering:
- full creative workshops
- ongoing classes
- group learning experiences
- collaborative creative projects
And as the program grows, I would love to bring on additional trained instructors who share the same heart for helping teens build confidence through creativity.
What PhotoArtGraphy Looks Like Today
While that future is still ahead, the present work is already active and deeply personal.
Right now, I offer instruction and photography services directly, including:
- sessions held at my private home in New Freedom, Pennsylvania
- travel-based sessions throughout Southern York County, Pennsylvania
- workshops and sessions in Northern Maryland, including Carroll, Harford, and Baltimore counties
This mobile approach allows for flexibility and a personal, one-on-one experience that meets teens and families where they are.
It also keeps the focus where it matters most: on connection, comfort, and individual growth.
A Background Rooted in Service & Nonprofit Work
Over the past 30 years, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of nonprofit settings – both in leadership and support roles.
This includes:
- serving as a nonprofit director
- working on staff within nonprofit organizations
- serving on boards of directors
- advising over 100 nonprofit organizations
- and volunteering in a wide range of community-based organizations
Those experiences have shaped how I view this work.
At the center of it has always been one consistent theme:
helping people grow, develop confidence, and find opportunity – regardless of their circumstances
That mindset continues to influence the vision behind PhotoArtGraphy today.
A Question for the Future: Nonprofit or Business?
One of the ongoing considerations for the future of PhotoArtGraphy is structure.
Should it remain a for-profit business, or eventually become a nonprofit organization?
There are meaningful advantages to both paths, and each comes with its own strengths and challenges.
For now, PhotoArtGraphy operates as a business – specifically a DBA of my company, Sozo Firm Inc.
But the long-term vision continues to explore how this work can best serve the community while remaining sustainable and impactful.
A Dream for Access & Opportunity
One of the strongest guiding values behind PhotoArtGraphy is accessibility.
The goal is not only to provide high-quality creative instruction to those who can afford it, but also to ensure that financial limitations do not prevent motivated teens from participating.
In the future, I hope to be able to offer scholarships for teen workshops and training opportunities so that any student with interest and passion can take part – regardless of financial circumstances.
That includes teens who may not otherwise have access to specialized creative instruction in photography, acting, comedy, modeling, or performance arts.
Supporting the Future of PhotoArtGraphy
At this time, PhotoArtGraphy is not a nonprofit organization, and any contributions made are not tax-deductible.
However, there is a growing vision for what this could become.
If individuals, families, foundations, businesses, churches, nonprofit organizations, or government agencies are interested in supporting this mission – particularly in the areas of:
- scholarship funding for teen workshops
- or future facility development and rental space
